TRAGODIA SERIES

Tragodia XVI

Tragodia XVI crowns the face with a cluster of bare roots splayed upward like rays, the halo replaced here with something that grew rather than was forged.

Earlier pieces in the series use forged ornament — rings, ironwork, etc. — to mark where memory ends and the body carrying it begins. Tragodia XVI removes that boundary: crown and figure share one material, continuous rather than attached. The patina still does the series’ usual work of time passing, but here it reads less like damage and more like growth, as though what’s remembered simply kept extending outward, unwilling to stop at the shoulder.
